Hey, I've been playing guitar for a few years now but I've never really done much useful with it.

I want to begin to learn some solos in entirety and really nail them. However I'm kinda short on ideas, can anyone suggest some preferably rock / metal solos that are moderate difficulty, but reasonably simple in terms of time signature etc?

Iron Maiden is the band for you. It's all essentially 4/4 Pentatonic Scale shredding, meaning you can improvise because you are playing the same scale between the 12th and 15th frets.

Obv - Blood Brothers is my favourite, but look at loads of their stuff - pretty much the entire Brave New World album is great to learn. Eddie The Great is essentially the Greatest Hits, so have a troll on that album and find something dude

I have no idea why Ii didn't automatically think of Iron Maiden.

I feel rather stupid now.

Iron Maiden have this awesome skill of remaining simple, yet being great on the ears! And it ranges from Running Free (easy as pie) to Mariner or Sign Of The Cross (epic and difficult)

i'm a big fan of jimi hendrix's phrasing, and i think it helps you to free up your style instead of being locked down into random places on the neck

so bold as love, spanish castle magic, and love or confusion

Most of Weezer's material off there first album is pretty simple. Check out the Sweater Song solo, or any other song off the album.
