Anyone else on JSP scream/growl etc?

If so, post what songs you can cover

Il start, Chelsea grin - Cheyne Stokes. One of the first songs I learnt, good high-low switch's.

I can't metal scream. I know how to sing, and I know how to quietly sound like Randy from LOG, but I have NO idea how to comfortably project the sound without hurting or damaging my vocal chords.

Actually - I lie. I can metal scream, but not like Corey Taylor/Howard Jones, more like Rob Halford in Painkiller \m/

Nothing but it's very difficult to incorporate it into anything other than intro to Angel Of Death xDDDDD

Later I will post a video of my metal scream!

You should!

And I dont know, the main thing to be able to scream without hurting I guess would be to use your diaphragm/stomach not your throat to create the vocals? The rest just comes naturally.

Just to start naming shit off I enjoy singing Whitechapel's Somatic Defilement the album.. (minus the layered vocal bits / don't like there other two albums). I can do a lot of old Cannibal Corpse old and new - I just learned 'To Decompose' yesterday. Dead End Roads by Through the Eyes of the Dead is one of my favorite songs to sing (good warm up). Learning some All Shall Perish stuff from their second album and I love singing The Faceless.

anyway yeah if you're throat hurts your technique is off. for lows AND highs all the power needs to come from your stomach and you need to breathe properly (no inhale bullshit). I'll probably get some hate for Whitechapel lol but I really like that album and the lyrics are nauseatingly awesome.

I've never listened to that Whitechapel album, but I have their newest one 'New Era Of Corruption' and to differ with what everyone says; its not that great, all the sogns just sound the same and there's nothing special about it.

Cannibal Corpse are awesome, but I find their songs quite hard to cover because of the growls, I find it hard to prolong growls without having time to breathe, therefore its hard >< but I've recently learnt '5 Nails Through The Neck' by them if you know it :)
