I purchased a mk 939 keyboard
And was about to buy an midi cable to connect to my pc but looking at some online i see they have an midi in and midi out
It says to connect the in to the out on keyboard and the out to the midi in on the keyboard

The problem is
My keyboard only has a midi out port and no midi in

will this be a problem?
Will it work fine with just the midi in cable going into my midi out and leaving the other hanging loose?

or am i just looking at the wrong cable

Basically i dont want to buy a midi cable if it isn't going to work

You need an interface to plug the midi cord into, unless your PC has a MIDI in port. You will use the keyboard to send MIDI out to the interface, which then sends it to your computer, you won't be sending messages to the keyboard.

If it has a USB port it will be a lot easier.

I think he was talking about the fact that a USB interface is alot more noob friendly than both firewire and PCI soundcards/interfaces

He should just be able to plug the USB from the keyboard right into the computer and use it as a MIDI controller. Only if the computer has drivers for it I guess.
