Okeh I'm a noob when it comes to hardware and software.. Thinking about buying a microphone with xlr connector.. what other hardware do I need for that to work?

Doing this straight to a computer? Will need some sort of audio interface as well, cheap ones run from $80-120 I believe

For Audio interfaces, if your going cheap I would recommend M-Audio. They very good bang for buck.

M-Audio Fast Track Pro is a very good interface

I personally use a Presonus Firestudio Project and I got a Sterling Audio ST66 Mic and it works wonders for me.
