dont use triggers
focus mainly on the overhead and room mics, and only add in some close miking for extra punch/attack etc.

Date got moved foward a week. I guess I should provide some more info.

I'm gunna be recording the kit in my sig. I'm pretty sure there's gunna be a mic on each piece. We've got a kick mic and a bunch of sm57's and 2 condensers and some other mics. My main questions are how high are the overhangs supposed to be suspended, and should I put the kick mic in the drum or just inside the hole I cut in the front head?

/not using triggers, you don't need to look cool to sound good ;)

Get a nice Mic kit. Also use some descent software that will auto adjust the levels.

Sir, it seems like you still have to learn the most valuable lesson in drumming. ; DDD
