You're going to need a midi controller as well.
If you're serious about making any kind of eletronic music ( Unless you plan on making some fucktarded shit like dubstep ) you're going to want to invest in some hardware. Good hardware will run you at least 500 bucks used on eebay, between 1.3-3k new depending on what you're looking for.
If you want to have the god of bass sounds, you need analogue gear, to hit truly fat and low notes. There are some nice digital synths that do bass rather well, in the end it's a matter of taste really.
Most software synths like the vsts I listed above are going to sound kind of generic and plain, too clinical and in the background. It's okay to use them to learn synthesis ( I did ), as they're a lot easier to operate than good hardware, but after a while you need to graduate to hardware.
Probably the only VST I've ever heard that does some incredible stuff you can't do on most if not all hardware is Alchemy, well worth looking into if you're interested in making insanely trippy evolving pads.
As for tutorials, there aren't too many great ones online. Unlike other instruments, synths require a lot and a lot of personal time spent with them in order to be able to use them professionally. Every synth is different on the inside, in terms of what it can do, and how you can make it do it, and how to route functions. They're all mapped differently, no synth is the same. It's not like in the sense that once you can play guitar, you can pick up any guitar and jam. You can know one synth inside out, and then come across one that makes you go WUT. So be prepared to invest hours, days, weeks, YEARS into learning these kinds of instruments.
