Haven't really used ultimate-guitar that much and I'm not very familiar with the diagrams and symbols used in the tabs. So yeah, what I wanted to know is, on the chord diagrams on some tabs, where you hover the cursor over the chords, there are sometimes thick vertical lines that go down the scale on the left hand side. Can anyone tell me what this is cos im kind of a noob at guitar at the moment. Cheers :)

Are you talking about something like this? The thick line means that you bar those strings with your first finger.
