Hello all.

I am looking to upgrade to a better amp since i have finally realised that my line 6 amp is crap when it comes to any sort of tone. I am craving somthing that can put out some bone crunching death metal but also has nice melodic sounds.

Was looking into the Peavey Valveking halfstack as my first tube amp but was wondering if there is any other better / similar options for the price range of 1000$. A buddy of mine is trying to talk me into a line 6 pod instead.

Any advice mucho appreciated. B)

3 Monkeys doesn't make anything for death metal. Besides $1000 wouldn't get you a 3 monkeys amp. Their like $2500+ new.

There are plenty of good amps around the $1000 mark. For your music I'd suggest a Peavey 6505+. I know it's always the most suggested but for your listed genre it should work just fine. I'm sure you could also find a used Mesa around that price if your willing to go used. (I have a Single Recto for $800). But not sure a Mesa would have that low end your looking for.

LOL@ the pod.

Mesa Boogie all the way. IMO, their tone is absolutely unparalleled when it comes to metal with clarity. they have some ridiculously nice sounding combo amps in the 1000$ range.

I am really digging what i have seen for the Peavey 6505 + 112 reviews. Looks like a good amp for me with bein portable since i only jam at home with freinds.

Thanks for the info. :)

Buy a Peavey Valveking 100 half stack, and replace the power tubes with Electro Harmonix 6L6GC's. Replace the preamps with Tungsol 12ax7's, and it will sound as good as any other.

It's what I did and I get pretty decent tone. I can upload a demo of something if you like.
