Just high enough so that there is no string buzz
if it's too low, there will be string buzz.
too high and it's pointless

are you adjusting it yourself, or having it done professionally?

like act one said, just high enough for the strings to not buzz, however hard you strum or pluck... if your guitar has suffered de-tuning or neck tension issues from weather changes, etc... a truss rod adjustment is optimal. This is super common if you have a solid top guitar. Laminated top guitars tend to have little to no problems with neck relief/tension.
