Okay, well none of my friends are awake to ask atm, so I'm hoping to find out some good information from you guys.

I'm wondering what Wat Amp I nede to get. I play Drums, and have no intention of playing guitar, however I want my friends that do to come over and be able to Jam. I've been told that a low Wat Amp won't do, as the sound of my Drums will easily overpower it.

I play mainly Metal, so I'm asuming I'll need a fairly powerful one to drown out the double bass?

Again, have no clue what I'm talking about, someone please inform me.

Peavey Bandit 112. Not expensive. Tight Solid State overdrive sounds good for metal. Loud enough for drums. 5 year warranty. If you don't like that one, anything with similar specs should do it. I just think this one has a good value.

he was asking about what size amp, not really aspecific amp choice.

really it depends on what type of amp, depending on the acoustics of the room a 5 watt class a tube amp running a nice 4x12 cab would have no problem i use a 20 watt class A while and never put it above 4 on the other hand if you are going solid state anything above a true 50 watts should he fine

Well metal drummers usually play pretty loudly. My 15 watt amp keeps up with my drummer who bangs them pretty hard, but I'd shoot for a 20-30 watt one. This is tube powered. Tube Amps have a "fuller" sound, so they seem louder.

I know what he's asking and what he needs is an amp to compete with a drummer. You're right, 5 watts could be enough power if the sensitivitey is 140db spl rated at 1w dbv+- .001w but those numbers can be decieveing. Instead of giving a drummer too much info and not know how to read this info, I thought I'd point him in the right direction. So far you've said to him, "I know more than you." Try helping the guy out instead of bragging.

all I told him was that a 50 watt solid state would probably do the trick, or a lower wattage tube amp.... how is that too much information.... plus peavey amps are horrible.
