There are plenty you can buy for that price range. Look at local guitar centers, play around on some of the guitars. Find one you like and either buy it, or find one online.

Yeah that is about the best you are going to get under $500 brand new. Now used is another story, you could get a much higher quality guitar that way.

used instruments are the way to go. they hold their value much better and they have already "opened up". when looking for used instruments, check craigslist (or whatever you have over there) and the newspaper (or whatever you call it over there), you could find an awesome deal if you hold off for a while.
