i play mandolin in my band. my guitar player entered the state mandolin competetion and won 2nd place i couldnt compete as i was at work. edit: he entered guitar competetion, but there are just too many guitar players competing, about 10 of them were really damn good. 2 of them were flat out amazing.

anyone ever go to one of these events? ours drew a about 500+ yesterday, typical turnout. the national championships are in september at walnut valley music festival outside of wichita ks. that sells something like 20,000 tickets and is a week long event. watching the competetion is fun, but watching the champions jam out in the street until dawn is what its all about.
