just wanted to know if there is a similar sounding alternative to the Bm chord, I can play it fine, it's just the transitioning that is a problem for me.
of course I am going to keep working on it, but just wondering if there is an alternative to it in standard tuning, thanks!

There is a lot of different positions you can play it in, just look up minor shapes, and find B minor, there's a few

I'm assuming this is the one you're having problems with: x24432.
You could try:
xx977xx
x2443xx (just dont barre)
xxx432

I use this one a lot:
x20200
Has a really open sound. Works well for Floydish stuff.

That's a Bm11...not a Bm.

But he asked for variations of Bm that would be easier to play, not extended Bm chords.

I think "similar sounding alternatives" is pretty open to interpretation.
If he had said, "I need different, easier voicings for this chord," I would probably agree with you.
But the chord I posted IS in fact easier to play, sounds similar, and nearly always fulfills the function of a Bm just fine.

I don't know, an extended chord doesn't sound anything like a triad, so it ceases to be similar outside of function.
