Ok, so I know a little bit about music, notes etc. I can read decently, but I haven't really done much playing outside of school. So, I am looking to learn to play guitar! I hope 18 isn't too late to start :)

Anyways, I plan on starting with Acoustic (even though I've read that electric is easier to learn with, I would much rather become proficient in acoustic, so im starting there no matter what). I was wondering what would be the best acoustic guitar/guitar starters pack for me, in the price range of $150 or so. I know, its cheap, but I don't want to put too much more into something I can't be certain I will stick with. Also, being a college student impacts the wallet :P

Some I was looking at (these come in a pack, with a tuner/picks/extra strings/bag/etc):

Fender Starcaster Acoustic - http://www.amazon.com/Fender-Starcaster-Acoustic-Guitar-Accessories/dp/B001943W9M
Gibson Maestro Acoustic - http://www.amazon.com/Maestro-Gibson-Acoustic-41-Inch-Natural/dp/B0016BS8J2
Ibanez Jam Pack Acoustic - http://www.guitarcenter.com/Ibanez-Jam-Pack-Solid-Top-Acoustic-Guitar-Pack-105134076-i1324671.gc?source=4WFRWXX&CAWELAID=444564269

Just some I've gone through, feel free to give other suggestions too! Thanks in advance :)

It's never too late to start.

If I were you, I'd go with the Ibanez starter pack, because Ibanez usually has decent starter guitars, my starter guitar was an Ibanez too.

When you do get a guitar, make sure you don't overplay your fingers during the first month or two, you will tear through the skin if you don't have calluses built up. Practice learning chords and scales and why they work together, and you'll be a good guitarist in no time :)

i'd say go electric unless the kind of music you enjoy is more acoustic. electric = easier = more likely to stick with it. plus 200 dollars = not so great acoustics...but if you do decide to go acoustic, check out these...

That Epiphone looks really nice. Now I can't decide between the Ibanez and it!

Ibanez

Thanks guys, bought the Ibanez, should be here shortly!

Any advice on good online lessons etc. to get me started? Will probably take actual lessons at some point, but I'd like to get the basics down first :)
