So I'm gonna start playing the drums since I have a drumset downstairs.
I will be teaching myself.
Does anyone have anything hey want to share? I need some easy begtinner songs to play.
Also is there any program that plays drum tabs? Do drums tabs exist?
I googled drum tabs but I see a scaore with o's on them

Guitar Pro renders drum tabs, but it is a lot easier to listen to songs, and learn the beats by ear. Then meaby check tabs for diffycult fills.

Practice rudiments _daily_!!! They might not feel relevant for a beginner, but in long run it makes benefit.
If you are not going to take lessons, check out youtube for some proper handtechnique videos, hand tech > all.

Depending on what kind of music you want to play, you have to make up your mind on what songs to practice. Choose easy, slow songs with a few fills.
When advancing, you can start expanding your knowledge in any way you find intresting. Be creative!

These are not facts, just my personal experiences after 7 years of drumming, and 3 years of teaching.

get lessons when you first start
technique is everything when you start to get good

don't teach yourself

i know a guy who did that and he looks completely retarded while being simply awful.

imo drums are something you need to get the basics from a teacher

Learning drums online w/o an in-person teacher is very effective. There are thousands of drum lessons on youtube and you can see specifically how you are supposed to do something so you don't look "completely retarded" >.<

ig your really sure you want to learn drums without a teacher
dont get a teacher permanently
get 5-10 lessons from someone and ask them to teach you as much technique as possible

u never know, u might learn drums pwns guitar :D

Don't listen to any of these guys. Do what ever motivates you to play. Some people need to be shown something, some people can hear it and learn it and some people can pick up a book. I agree with picking up bad habits if you learn on your own, but if you spend all your time learning good technique and not having fun, lessons can be a deterrent if you don't have the right teacher.

I would recommend going out to see bands with good drummers and just watch the drummer and listen. You'll get a lot from that and if you find your self limited in the future and desire to get better, that's when taking lessons will become priority.

Oh yea, beginner songs to play along:
Weezer Blue Album.
AC/DC (Any)
Neil Young
The Cult

Start there. Have fun. Pick up a book called "Carmen Appice's Ultimate Realistic Rock." That should get you goin'
