Anyone play one? A friend of mine has been playing with one for a little while now, there's a video of him with it attached below if you aren't familiar with one.

They sound quite beautiful. Thoughts?

I have one. They sound fantastic. Easy to play, too.

I have an Appalachian dulcimer as well. Also sounds fantastic, and it's incredibly relaxing to play.

I'm quite envious. How much did the hammer d cost? Do the lower end (200-400) one's sound decent? Or are you better off getting a slightly better one?

I've never heard an Appalachian dulcimer before. Can you post a video you think represents it well?

I can't even remember how much mine was. It was a hand-made one I got at a music festival. Sounds great to me, though. :)

As for the Appalachian Dulcimer, it depends on how it's played. I wish I could find a version of Lord Randall on youtube, but here's a great version of wildwood flower.
