Decided I wanted a low wattage tube amp so I could get some better tone at low volumes, my hot rod deluxe pisses off my neighboors at 1 (I live in an apartment). Tried it out at Music 6000 yesterday and was extremely suprised, besides the fact that it can get easily loud enough to play with a band, it actually sounds pretty kickass, especially if you put a nice analog distortion pedal in front of it, plus I am excitied to try all of the DIY mods they have out for them.... and instead of getting the little cheapo 1x12 cab they have with it I am going to run it out of my fender silver face cab (bandmaster cab) w/ 4x newly installed celestion vintage 30's.

Will let you know how much better it sounds on my cab

All peavey solid state amps are horrible.

The only decent peaveys I have ever played were the 5150 head, the peavey classic 30 and 50 amps.

thats what i use, 2x 12 5150, godly

the other guy probably has like a peavey vyper or something lol, and now that I said this he is going to google the best amp he can think of to say he has.

I have the Blackstar HT-5 (Tube amp) and its AWESOME.

those are really nice as well

but I only paid 80 dollars for the epi valve junior and it was in mint condition and the tubes had just been upgraded as well. I got a great deal on it, its seriously loud enough through a 4x12 to play with a band, it suprised me, I thought 5 watts would have been nothing.

Same thing for me with the Blackstar. I went to our local music store, and a guy was playing an amp that was really clean and powerfull. So I looked it up afterwards, and it was only 5 watts! I was like WTF... But then I saw the pricetag, and it was pretty expensive. SO I simply had my parents gettin it for me! (WIN)

And yes, 80 dollars is quite a price for the junior...

I am actually picking up an orange 4x12 cab tomorrow and honestly the epi valve jr is going to run out of an orange w/ vintage 30's lol until I get a new head to pair with the cab, silly matchup, but I already have a pretty kickass fender cab I have paired with my fender hot rod deluxe. I am getting it used for 500 bucks, which is a kickass deal for a mint orange cab, since they go for 1k new

i have a 5150, if i was going to make something up id say i had a full stack of laney or legacy carvin but id probley still pick the 5150 over them. i also have a ibanez, 2 marshalls,and a fender amp aswell, but the 5150 is the best alround, wasted money on marshalls but ibanez amps rule. i can send more pics of my gear to prove u wrong if u think im lyin agian.
