Been drumming for 10+ years but guitar has always been something I've wanted to do
For someone who:
Can't read music
Doesn't know anything about guitars
Doesn't have very cordinated fingers....

How difficult would it be to learn?

I know there are so many factors that play into this, such as natural skill, determination and such. But can anyone give any answer to this? And possibly any advice for starting out?
I have 3+ guitars in my house so I don't have to worry about getting one

reading music sheets isn't necessary but is a nice ability. when i first started playing i read music because i had an instructor, but now i dont and i play mostly by ear. as for finger coordination, practice practice practice. learn basic chord shapes and keep transitioning between them, teach your hands the muscle memory. its not as hard to play as you might think it is. look at it as if you were picking up drums for the first time. dedication. i'd suggest around two to three hours of playing a day if you want to be serious about it. i like to play for like an hour, put it down and get my mind off it, come back, and repeat. this will help if you become frustrated or hopeless in your ability to play. but shit you already know this, youve been playing drums for ten years lol.

Imo learning the base chords is the most effective way to start cause then you'll get in to it from scratch an then just climb your way upp.

pick a song and learn it method :)

Chose maby like i did

First song ever learned was Eagel eye cherry-save tonight its an easy song and ewery body can sing along :)
and then you just pick more advanced songs based on what you have learned (means you shouldent go for stairway to heaven right away) cause if you do you will just learn the song and nothing about guirar playing

after you learned all the base chords Move along to Scales (if you feel like it).

Ive got most out of playing blues, (after ive learned the base chords werry good)
ive checked the scales and tryed to adcance with them.

and playing classical guitar is also a great way of getting to know the guitar, you learn pretty much about were the notes are and how ewery thing works.

Hope my english wasent that bad and that you got something out of my tips :)
Check my threads

PS: the finger thing comes with practising, you'll will get it right if you practise :)

Best regards

what makes f and bm different from g, d, e, em, and am categorically?

F and Bm are barred, where G,D,E, etc. are open chords in most situations

you do realize there are different positions for each chord, not just power chords, and you can play an "F" chord with out barring them

Take some piano lessons, learn your chords, read up on theory as you go.

Reading music for a guitarist really isn't important, considering you can play each note so many different places on a guitar neck, tabs make much more sense - that is why we use them!
