For the longest time I would never use any effects pedals whatsoever, and the only effects I would use would have to be built into the amp. In the last few years I have picked up the habit of using a few choice pedals, and then I will only use analog pedals with true bypass. What are your thoughts on this? Digital? Analog? I know a lot of guitar players on this board I see with extensive pedal boards. Just felt like seeing your opinions on this.

As a general rule I'd say (imo) less is better, but that doesn't mean I won't use it if it's not built into the amp. And if it's between an analog or digital pedal, I'd say analog for sure.

I don't really like most effects enough to find a practical use for them in the context of a song. If my amp had tremolo on it, I'd use it to add some character to a clean tone, but my amp right now doesn't. I use Delay subtly for texture, and sometimes I let it oscillate to add some interesting psych sounds to my playing. I use Fuzz like it's nobody's business. I don't ever turn my fuzz off. I use Univibe on faster paced songs to add some rhythmic pulse. I don't really write songs around the effects though. I just write songs, and if I like the effect in it, I'll toss it in.

I love effects and I'd buy tons of them if I would earn more money. Not that I can use all of them in bandcontext, but it's just so much fun!
