Video Link *Note this is played on a baritone guitar

Confusing chord = 37-38 seconds through

(most of the tabing below is total trash but I agree with the bolded part as that seems how Andy plays it.

B |-----7--------------------7------|-----7----------------------------|------|
F#|----5--7-5--------7H8--10---8----|-----------8-----------8-----8----|------|
D |---7----------7H9----------------|---9-------9-----------11---11--(A)-----|
A |---------------------------------|---10---10---10------9-----9---9--|------|
E |---------------------------------|-0--------------------------------|------|
B |-0----------x------0-----x-------|------x-----------10-----x--------|------|

Now in standard tuning (*baritone guitar can be directly translated in standard tuning) I am totally dumbfounded to how G string @ 11 and B string @ 8 make any type of harmony at all.

In the video Andy uses a similar chord structure [37-38 SEC]. I'm not sure if I'm missing something or if the thicker strings and down tuning changes the effect but the chord as it seems is incorrect.

well lets break it down shall we?

assuming that its 10-9-11-8 and played in standard
we conclude that its D--A--F#--G

D--F#--A makes up Dmaj 1-3-5 Triad

D--F#-G--A makes up or Dadd4. 1-3-P4-5

so yeah the chord is Dadd4

"add" means that we basically add another note in the triad. In this case its the perfect fourth of the D major scale.

what would sound cool and probably better in standard is taking that Dadd4 and making in to a Dmaj. Or even better turn that Add4 into a Sus4 and resolve into Dmaj

so just for kicks try this---- play

B |-----7--------------------7------|-----7----------------------------|------|
F#|----5--7-5--------7H8--10---8----|-----------8-----------8--------------|------|
D |---7----------7H9----------------|---9-------9-----------11---10--(A)-----|
A |---------------------------------|---10---10---10------9-----9---9--|------|
E |---------------------------------|-0--------------------------------|------|
B |-0----------x------0-----x-------|------x-----------10-----x--------|------|

so play that Dadd4, and then slide the (11) to the (10)

Wow thank you for the lesson ^_^

However playing...

E|-----------------------------------|
B|---------11-----------------10---|
G|----------8------------------8----|
D|------9--------or-------9---------|
A|-----------------------------------|
E|--10----------------10-----------|

...sounds nothing like the chord actually played in the video. I'm still confused, perhaps I am just unable to hear the notes clearly.
