there are muddy tube amps.
the main difference is the natural break up in tube amps at higher volumes. tubes have a tendency to sound fuller and louder too

vouch. tube amps add a "warmth" to the sound. if playing acoustic instuments with passive pickup you want to avoid tube amps generally (even with preamp/DI box). solid state amps handle that kind of signal much better.

Couldn't possibly disagree with that more. I don't understand how you came to that conclusion.

Solidstate amps have a tendency to sound more "harsh" than a tube amp, and most solidstate amps wont clean up with the guitars volume knob if you're on the OD channel. Tube amps are also a bit warmer sounding and compressed.
Generelly the louder you play a tube amp, the better it sounds because of the powertube saturation being added at higher volumes.
