well ive been playing for about 9 months self taught so far and i feel like im at a point right now that i could just keep learning theory and songs on my own but i want routines and exercises that might actually make me better faster

so i was thinking of getting as teacher but not sure if its a good idea

any opnions or experiences?

It all depends on your person and how you feel about it.

My personal experience: I got a teacher for about a year, didn't learn shit and was disappointed in learning theory again (Must say I was like 13-14 so he thought I was quite a dumbass that just picked up guitar for fun).
So I just went on my own. Been 5 years from now I play, I don't know a single thing of theory, not even chords, but I still manage to compose pieces that are said quite good.

I can't really suggest you anything but to try and get a teacher, if it doesn't work out, just go on your own. If you still want to play guitar that is :)

I have been playing for 6 years now, always self taught with no problems so far.. i don't feel the need of a Guitar Teacher..
It pretty depends on what you play.. i have to admit that i found some "difficulties" when i started playing Electrical Guitar aswell(i am mainly an acoustic player).. and i was thinking about getting lessons but everything went well..
In my opinion, it is just a matter of what you want, how often you play, how much you do like it..
Nothing is impossible.. remember that practicing everyday helps a lot.

well thats kinda wat im afraid of.. that i wont learn a damn thing but the teacher i have in mind is not only a guitar teacher but is a jack of all trades musically(drums vocals piano etc...) so i dont doubt he knows alot but i know a fair amount about music theory but not alot about guitar theory like chords and shit

but i always could go on my own but it would take longer lol but thanks for the response
