I have never heard that before. The only thing with standard fender (i am assuming thats what you mean) non locking trems is that your strings will go out of tune with alot of use of it.

With a floyd rose double locking(a good one not a cheapo imitation one) strings stay in tune relatively well.

Seconded. Maybe a shitty ass Licensed tremolo will suck so much that you'll want to throw the guitar through he window, but apart from that...

I'd have to say, go for a Real Floyd Rose or a Schaller Licensed. The Schaller is maybe even better.
