It's kind of ridiculous to try to judge who's the best guitarist alive. First off, I'd bet money it's some nobody that no one has heard of. =) As we know, skill doesn't necessarily equate to a successful career. Second off, how can you really judge what's "best". We all have different styles, and you can't compare apples and oranges. All this question will really return is a vote for who your "favorite" guitarist is...
my vote goes 2 Pete Townshend... he's my favorite. I'm not saying he's the best or anything, but I like him best =)
