anyone got any tips on how to create a bass line improv from a songs given chords? and also what is an easy way to remember bass scales? are they all structured the same etc? im not good with this stuff if you cant tell :P

I would assume scales for bass would be pretty much structured the same since they both are tuned similarly, so yes some of natural scales will have a given pattern, so just try to remember that pattern for different types of scales.



notice the pattern, ofc hes not playing the full scale, but u see structure of his fingers.

first you need to know what notes are in each chord. If you do know this, then a good way to start is by hitting either just a root note, or going up to the fifth or third, in quarter notes. Once youve got that kind of thing down, try messing with the rythmn and try and match it to the song's bass drum if it has one.

im reading a self teahcing boo kym friend had it shows diagrams of chordes with the notes

yeah, so use the notes in chords to make a bassline. Start on the root on the first chord of the song, and maybe try to find a note in the next chord that is only 1 or two frets away to go to, and find a way to keep going down or up the neck in that way to get a cool feel to basslines, gives it more flavour than just hitting roots.
