But, if anything is original its the production that comes from rap. Consider Pink Floyd revolutionized music of the time with looping. Auto tune is just a part of the evolution of music.

Rock is like the US auto industry. It thought it was so big that it would never fade but in the mean time alternatives emerged and have consumed the market knocking the King off his throne.

Biggie was a lyrical trend setter also and even compared to a lot of garbage produced today his songs still pack a dance floor.

2. Of course you can talk about specific flaws in rap/hiphop but you surely can' t think that its not the dominant...hmm, interesting thought just occurred to me. I have no idea what the rest of the world listens to and since we live in a global community these days, I'll refine my post to say that Rap is the only real music coming out of the US.
