You writing a riff for a song (chorus, melody, what ever). And it sounds so great. Then maybe a little later you, or someone you have listen, realizes it's already in a very popular song, and you can't really mask it?

Well, today, I was just messing around with some blues/rock playing before trying to sleep. And I was playing a song that sounded like a guess who song. I looked into, it isn't. I'd be pissed if it was. I'm sure it's been played before, but if I can't recognize it, no harm/no foul.

You guys experience this time from time?

It's happened before, but not often. Isolate urself from the world (and music) and just play

It doesnt bother me too much. It doesnt happen often. The only real time it happened was that i wrote a riff when i first started playing and i always loved it. Then later i started listening to ensiferum i realized my riff was (somewhat) in one of their songs.
