if i were to start singing songs from nirvana alice in chains .. grunge in general would singing lessons be good? like i have the raspy voice n what not but for certain songs

Yes, singing lessons will be good. Regardless of how raspy your voice is, if you aren't singing in pitch you will sound like shit.

yes, he speaks truthful truths. Singing requires you AT LEAST to have another observer to monitor how you're doing and correct you on pitch / tone / etc... otherwise I guarantee you will suck.

if u wanna sing grunge type stuff, u dont need practice, look at Kurt.. terrible voice but he used it with the right music and it was amazing, any voice can work, you just need the right music to accompany it.
