I still dunno if I will or not, but I'm considering buying one. Why? Because I wanna start playing/composing some heavier stuff that requires a lower string since my ESP can only tune to about drop C (Never tried lower since last time I played drop C it snapped after some days).

Anyways, I've already looked into some of the 7-strings, but I have really no idea what is good, what's not. I'm looking for something between cheap and medium. Let's say a budget of about $500 US. Can put more if needed, but I'm not looking to spend a grand on this since I will not use it as my primary guitar (Currently using ESP M-II and love it).

What I've checked out: Ibanez RG7321, LTD Stephen Carpenter, most of the Schecters (maybe not Hellraisers because they're pricy) and that's pretty much about it.

Any suggestions would be gladly appreciated w/ personnal experiences preferably.

Thanks!

What gauge strings you using on your current six string? And by snapped do you mean broke?

I use Ernie Ball Skinny Top/Heavy Bottom
Gauges 10-13-17-30-42-52

And I stay tuned to drop c and have went lower with no problems. Maybe you could just try getting heavier strings and not worry about buying a 7 string.

Yeah, that was surely the problem. I'm using EB Super slinky.
And yeah it broke.

And I hate being tuned down, I always play standard, so I'd prefer buying a 7-string.

That's the reason it broke, Ernie Ball makes trash strings. Get some Dean Markleys, those are real strings.

Yeah, cleartone uses the best semen to coat their strings.

I was actually looking into 7-strings a few years ago, but I never ended up getting into it too much because I don't like how enormous the necks were. Instead I bought a baritone (Standard tuning for a baritone is B ) and I like it a lot. So there's something to consider.
