what is needed to play with a electric guitar? i know the amp, but what else? im noob at music

also, what would be a good price for a descent brand?

Well, I always like to recommend Ibanez guitars as they make pretty good metal guitars for cheap. $200-400 should get you a nice one, check out what's available at local shops.

Others will recommend other brands of course so take them into consideration, just throwing in my 2 cent.

Dude, get an acoustic. I suggest Encore as i've had mine for 9 years and it's still perfect :)

Ibanez are ok starter guitars, but if I were you i'd try to get an ESP/LTD. Amp wise just try to find a marshall i guess..

he'll just get coaxed into buying an mg. First buy an amp, i suggest a roland cube. Then buy your yguitar with whats leftover

YES! The fucking cube was such an awesome little amp.

Esp/Ltd + Roland Cube was my starter set up.
