just started playing and id like to know what is an x on 3rd string stands for??? (just before it is 0 on 1st and 3 on 2nd)

X on ANY string means you mute it. (mute means to keep your finger on the string without holding it down, and then playing that string)

I believe the 'x' stands for a dead note, meaning you lightly press your left hand against the string, but not hard enough so the string doesn't press against the fret.

You mute with the hand that's not holding the pick.

just set your finger over the string and play it, dont hold the string down

x means its an X-treme note meaning you have to play it louder than the rest
