I was going to buy an acoustic guitar and was wondering if any of you guys had any suggestions
I went to guitar center today and tried out a few, ovation martin ibanez epiphone and takamine.
Any of you guys have an acoustic of these brands? I know brands isn't the way to shop but I don't remember the model numbers, I really liked the feel of the ovation but I think the martin sounds better

your thoughts?

if you like nice deep melodic sounds i would go with the Martin... has a great tone, and IMO there are none better for playing acoustic

takamines aren't all that bad either, but they don't have that deep, fresh sound that the martin does

e: Martins and Takamines are the more expensive ones

do you want it brand new or used?

if you want a brand new one, Ibanez is probably the best for around that much...

if you get used ones, you should be able to find a Martin or Takamine somewhere... one of the music shops around my area had a nice Acoustic Electric takamine for like 400 without a case...

i ended up goin with a Fender 6D-60CE Acoustic Electric w/Case for 350, sounds really nice with some Elixir strings on it. But it really all depends on what your local music shops have (and if you know the owner) for deals.

Check out Encore. Although not a particuarly prestigeous make, i have one of their acoustics and after 9 years it's still as great as it was back then! Thin neck, warm sound, electric input, curved body. It's great, check them out

I vote no on Martin and yes on Taylor.

I agree that 300-500 Ibanez is your best bet.

Imo.

Although, I grew up playing Ovations so I also have a biased opinion for them.

I bought this guitar like 6 months ago for a class I was taking at the time:
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Ibanez-AEG20E-Flamed-Sycamore-Top-Acoustic-Electric-Guitar-103036620-i1166458.gc

I would recommend trying one of these if you can, as I passed up much more expensive models for this because it had a nice warm tone to it, was comfortable to play, and was very good for the price. Plus, it looked nice too, haha.
