Well I used to just borrow my brothers guitar and amp when I played.
That's the only guitar I've ever used, so I'm not sure on the quality of other guitars but I'm going to need to buy my own now.

So yeah I need some recommendations on a guitar within I'd say about $500~ price range.
Also need an amp.

$500 for a guitar and an amp, or just for the guitar? If you have $500 for a guitar, get a schecter C-1. If not, get a squire and a micro cube.

What kind of music do you play?

The schecter C-1 is a pretty decent guitar for the price.

So are some of the lower end prs's and there are some decent epiphones in the price range as well.

Don't forget about the used market either.

I play in a blackened thrash metal band if that helps, lol.

If you're trying to get both for $500, go used. Any small tube combo should do alright with a tubescreamer, and get a decent jackson, schecter, ibanez, etc. used.

If your actually playing in a band $500 isn't going to be very effective.

Save up a grand, pick up a bugera combo and a C-1 or a LTD
