I have roughly like 300-500 bucks to spend on a new bass...

I am into thrash/death metal and thought I should give up my 4 string and switch to a 5 string, that b string is so sexy tongue.gif

Tell me what you guys think haha, I was looking for a bass that has good balance, and good action and hopefully 24frets, as mine only has 21.

Please inform me if you own the bass you are telling me to get, or if you have played one or if you know someone that owns it. In other words i am hopeing for solid information.

My current amp is an Ampeg BA115 combo amp, 100watt.

I have looked at this bass in the past.... it just doesn't much like a metal bass.... which is my main genre.

have you ever played this bass before?

I don't really play bass at all, they bass player in my old metal band had a Spector 5 string and a Sunn Model T Head w/ a ampeg 8x10.

Probably because he was obsessed with Between the Buried and Me.

I just asked him about a 5 string w/ active pickups and decent a EQ since layout since he works at some shop devoted to bass players called the lowdown. biggrin.gif

instruments don't necessarily have to look metal to be used to play the genre haha. if that were the case b.c. rich would dominate. i've never played that ltd, but i wouldn't rule it out, they make decent guitars, never fucked with the basses though.

this is off topic, but i have a really nice bc rich st3 guitar from the 80's that is suiper sick. it's just a regular strat body ssh guitar, and the pickups are stock, but instead of having a 5 way switch it has an on/off switch for each pickup which is a great thing because it gives way to more possibilities. i traded an old bike frame to a friend for it and put on a different neck and it's definitely a good player guitar.

sorry about turding up your thread, but to shed some light on the matter, my friend has some 5-string ibanez soundgear bass and it plays really nicely. i'm not really into metal but it plays smoothly so i'm sure those tough scales would be a little easier.
