i used to tune mine way down and play for fun. this doesnt work because the string tension would be too loose (no sustain, the note just dies)

you just buy a bass....if you did that you'd snap your guitar in half

I have a boss me-50 pedal system. It has a bass booster that lets me play the entire neck an enitre octave down. I use it with my strat so its pretty sweet.

That's what I use too but it's not really THAT awesome. If you strum the string to much, it will fuck up the sound of the octave.

The later Boss GT series has a nicer bass emulator. Hell, the GT-3 I had for a while was ok. Though why waste the killer preamps on it on doing bass >.>

There are a bunch of Octave shifting pedals for guitar.

We actually octave shifted all of the bass on my metal bands recordings.

you cant resting a strat with bass strings, the neck will snap, and you would need a longer neck anyway
just buy a cheap bass
