i was lookin at a carlo giordano violin thats about 225, i definatly want to go electric and not accustic so i can control the sound volume, i read that you can buy a cheap electric and replace the strings with high quality strings and it will be fine
haha, no. first you
dont want any electrical components inside the violin (pickups inside or dials on outside). violins depend on so many things to produce the right sound, interfering with the way it is constructed makes it a worthless POS. you can control the sound with your preamp which youll need for an electric fiddle anyways. -friend had a $1k alvarez elec fiddle that sounded like it was made of tin-
second the
brand of violin means nothing when your spending under $400. get a used violin violin for $300, get a passive pickup (no battery needed) with mic for $50-80, i gurantee it will sound better than any electric violin. also dont just use a crap fiberglass bow, pros will tell you the bow is as important as the violin (they spend as much on a bow as they do on the fiddle). i suggest try a carbon fiber bow for $80-100.
i like pirastro strings or prim strings, order them online for $35 or a music store for around $45-55.
i work in a violin shop btw. pm me if you have specific questions. or go to your local luthiery and ask their opinion.
