So I want to switch my EMGs (81/81) for active SDs on my ESP M-II.

Why? Simply because I need to have better clean tone, and a more versatile style pickup.
I've checked out the LiveWire Classic: http://www.seymourduncan.com/comparetones/view/141
and the Blackouts: http://www.seymourduncan.com/comparetones/view/19

Both seem pretty good. Any advices?

Keep them active pickups only.

Haha yeah. I wasn't sure if most of SD's were passive or active.. But I knew switching was a pain in the ass so..

Thanks.

Yea i did it and i was bummed at all the extra mods i had to do in the end. But all in all i am much happier with my passive SDs.

I see. But I've never really modded my guitars or anything and don't really plan on starting on a $1,500 guitar. I was thinking about bringing it to the shop, do you think most of them would accept to switch to passive?

Oh, i did not mean it was expensive. It wouldnt cost more than 10-15 dollars or so. You are going to have to re-wire anyway and im assuming you have a soldering iron so its not that difficult as long as you rewire it the same way it was before. It was just time consuming since i didnt plan for it. The only part that is difficult which i have not done yet is put a ground from my electronics to the bridge because that requires routing. It produces a tiny hiss but its not really a problem more of an annoyance sometimes.
