I need beginners shred material. Nothing disgustingly fast like Jason Becker or Malmsteen, I just need some remotely fast scales to play and practice my fret hand's dexterity on higher notes. Reccomend me solos or whole songs, either is fine with me.

I can sweep expertly, it's not that hard. And I don't know too many scales honestly, bits and pieces of Diminished is it really, that's what I'm asking here.

Here's a great article that helped me a lot with shredding, I was gonna type out a bunch of shit but then I decided I'll just google the article: http://www.ibreathemusic.com/print/121

Kris Norris' instructional stuff is pretty awesome, there are some simpler things that you can work on, though there isn't really any "beginner" shred, I think this is a good choice.

You definitely can't sweep expertly if you don't know scales. That is unless you're the only person in the world with an exquisite knowledge of chord and arpeggio shapes but none of scales.

If you really want to know how to shred, learn some scales, and start playing them in creative ways. Nobody wants to hear you run up and down scales at even intervals (refer to every trivium solo off of the ascendancy album), but if you can make something creative and musical then you are on the right path.
