So...I've been playing acoustic guitar for a while now. Nothing professional you know, just for fun.
But I wanna try something different, so I thought of buying an electric guitar. Now, I know nothing about electrics, so I'm assuming I'll start off with the cheaper ones...
My question is: Which electric guitar do you recommend to me as a 'starter'?
I was thinking something along the lines of Ibanez or Fender.

Your thoughts?

(oh and a decently sized amp to play in my dorm too, thanks).

Nothing too pricey either.

Yeah Squiers pretty good, and do look like Fenders, considering they're made by Fender tongue.gif
Don't get a real Fender, that won't be the cheap beginner's guitar you're looking for, Squier is just a Fender for beginners (I don't mean your a beginner to guitar but you are a beginner to electric guitar)

I started with a Squier Strat, and now have a Fender Strat. The Squier was a great starter imo smile.gif
I can't help on a starter amp though, I got my amp from a local company.

buy used, or buy cheap and spend money on getting the guitar adjusted by a luthier or guitar shop. Makes a HUGE difference.

keep in mind that a cheap guitar can sound good with good amplification. but crap amps will make your good guitar sound like garbage.

and if you have a good budget just get a good guitar that you like depending on what you like playing and what tone you want.

go to like guitar center and try out everything in the store.

Epiphone, Ibanez, Squier, these 3 all make good starter guitars.
