I'm a guitarist and singer, and have had writer's block for almost a year now.

I have no inspiration whatsoever, and can't seem to put anything I like together.

What do you guys use for inspiration when writing?

I tend to wait until I'm saturated with a certain emotion to write.

Find something you feel strongly about, and just start singing little lines to yourself. You'll hear something you like eventually, and that's what you build off of.

Smoke weed and listen to good music that inspires you.

I don't write lyrics though, that's just what I do to write music.

My life is sort of at a pause at the moment, so I've got nothing to write about. Of course, with the exception of writing about not being able to write about anything because my life is in pause or slow motion. When I write, I usually try to think of the movie I just saw, and write about the love interests in the film and what not. I guess it's not the fact that I don't have inspiration, I suppose it's just that I don't know where to start. mellow.gif

I prefer to stay away from the "drugs will make you a better musician" stereotype. tongue.gif

I agree with CBK here. The only music you'll find you like that you write is when some sort
of emotion impacts it. Sure you can pick up your guitar and make a little riff and work from there
but the impact of emotion on music is what separates a good song from a mediocre song.
