I know how to do pinch harmonics on the higher strings and it is fairly simple. But once I start getting up into the A and Low E strings I can't seem to produce them as much on lower frets (1,3,5,etc..). Is there any kind of pointers you guys can give on hitting those pinch harmonics on low strings as well as on low frets. Also I tune down to drop C (CGCFAD) alot and play so getting them in that tuning is what I'm looking for.

Thanks

Practice them, that's all I can say. smile.gif there's no trick in that.

If you know how to do them, you need to practice.

As Darkshade said, you just have to practice them. I actually have a harder time doing them on the higher strings than the lower strings, but through practice have gotten to the point where I can basically do them successfully each time no matter the fret or string. Be sure you know how to correctly do them first, of course.

i think pinch's on lower strings are much easier..

sorry if im being patronising here, but pinch harmonics only really work if above the currently active pickup (closer to the neck is what i mean by above)...

so if you want to do squealie's all the time, your best bet is to make sure the switch for the pickups is always set to have the lowest one the most active... (the one closest to the tremalo/floyd rose)

hope this helps, i dont know what most parts of a guitar are called so i also hope this makes sense... as if your dont know this, your a bit fucked for pinch's really...

Well I'm pretty sure I'm doing them correctly. Any good videos you guys know of that teaches just so I can justify that I am doing them correctly. Because what you guys are saying is the complete opposite of what I'm doing. Harder on the higher strings for u guys and lower for me (By lower I mean Low E, A just incase you didn't realize that lol)

What kind of guitar/pickups/amp are you playing through? You're not really going to be able to belt them out playing on a Squier starter kit. (Not saying you are, but you get my point.)

I can get a decent pinch on anything (well not anything but close too), Picking hand placement and strike I find are the most important ways to get certain pinches and the sounds you want.

are you playing electric or acoustic? if acoustic: higher action produces brighter harmonics. if electric: make sure your lower strings arent hitting anything while vibrating? i dont know man, practice longer! use a blindfold!
