In my opinion, you shouldn't. Learn to really play a 6 string before you move on to a 7 string. Unless you're playing in a band and feel the need for a low B, there's no need for a 7str this early on.

point being that there are 7 strings, + the neck is wider. He's saying learn how to play guitar before you go overboard.

It isn't so much that it's overly complicated, but like albino said the neck will be more difficult to play on and the extra string adds a level of confusion. If you're just learning guitar, you won't find many songs on a 7 string that you'll be able to play, and it's just that much more uncomfortable to play songs that are meant for a six string.

7-String is 100% Pointless for most people.

Honestly, are you going to extend scales another string? And even so, why would you need it? I doubt at a year and three months your constructing solos that won't fit on your 6 string. They're much less comfortable to play on compared to six strings, due to the wider neck. Unless your really into long scales, and use them tons in your solos, I wouldn't buy one. You'll end up regretting it later when you find out you don't need it, or don't know how to put it to good use. Stick with your 6string for a while longer, and if in a few months of playing on a 7-string at guitar center every here and there, you STILL feel you need one, then go for it thumbsup.gif
