i was wondering if there is something i'm doing wrong with the way i'm palm muting right now. when i strum 2 or 3 strings fast while palm muting i end up hitting the right side of my middle finger. this only happens when i'm palm muting but strumming fast(ish)

i must be doing something wrong because my middle finger is getting all cut up dry.gif

Why are you trying to strum multiple strings while palm muting. That is kinda weird. Also how are you holding your pick?

you're just strumming down right? not up?

thats what he means, just place your palm a little past the bridge towards the neck and ONLY play downstrokes, hold your fingers up and out of the way, so only the side of your hand should be touching the strings, and make as little movement as possible for the strumming, happy chug-chugging

you can most definetly palm mute upstroke. You just gotta make sure your palm is on the string behind of where you are picking.
