What we need to know is price range you're willing to put out and what kind of music you're looking to play.

I found a list on the internet, this is what it said.

#1 Fender Stratocaster icon_pointr.gif (Boooooring Guitar. my opinion)

#2 Epiphone SG icon_pointr.gif (Great guitar, great pick-ups)

squier strats are the most popular beginners guitar by far. In my opinion the neck is much smoother than that of the epi SG. Overall I don't like Epi's at all. There is the rare gem that's set up perfectly and plays beautifully, but in general they're not very good guitars.

My recommendation is that you go to guitar center and play some guitars. Don't buy one of the pre-packaged beginner packs. Tell them your price range, and they'll recommend a guitar for you. Play it, and if you like it, ask them to wipe it down, clean it up, and change the strings if necessary.

i'm somewhat appalled that you can call strats boring. they're by far the most versatile guitar. judging by your sig/ava i can see you're a gibson junkie. that's fine, you can overpay for a name inlay if you'd like, i'll stick with my boring strats wink.gif

I have a squire strat. I don't really play much, just like messing around. Prefer my acoustic over it any day though.
