So i posted this topic in the wrong area i guess but here's my dilema

I recently purchased a Boss gt-8 and realized i really need to upgrade my amp.
I have come to find a liking to the Marshall MG series and Fenders all-around design.
Thing is.. people say dont pay for the name pay for your style.
I like to play stuff like Bullet for my valentine/Atreyu/Killswitch etc..

Figured jsp peeps may have some good feedback to help me reach a decision.
p.s. nothing over 450$

1. MG + Fender solid states are a big no no. You may like the sound now but when you develop your ear you will realize they sound like mud being pushed through a speaker.

It seems you want high gain. I would suggest you look used for a peavey 5150 combo, this amp is the amp that shaped the metal tones we know and love. If you want a new one they have the peavey 6505 combo but its like 1k.

he's got it right. Don't ever buy a marshall MG. You should really stay away from solid state amps altogether, as a matter of fact.

In my honest opinion, buy a roland micro cube because it's an extremely good amp for the cost. Save up for a nice tube combo like a high end valveking or a dual recto.

actually they are not. It seems to me that you think it would be better to have a 120 watt solid state halfstack than a 5-30 watt tube combo. Let me tell you, its not. You said you wanted a good amp for metal at 450 bucks. The best thing would be my suggestion. Do not be fooled and buy a 120 watt mgfx, it will suck. You will have a much better tone, maybe getting a used 5150 or a B-52 combo if you save some more money. Also Valvekings a low end tube amps :\ there are no high end valvekings.
