I just got a Korg R3 today, got it extremely cheap.
I haven't played much on it yet, but I'm starting to wonder if this is actually any good for playing progressive rock.
Seems more like a thing for techno stuff so far.
So, does anyone know how and if I can set this thing up to sound better for prog rock (or any other type of rock)?
When buying it I actually didn't look past the fact that it was small enough to fit in my messy room, and that I actually had some keys to play on, wich is always better then nothing.
Advice will be greatly appreciated!

Oh, and btw, anyone who can link me to a good synth site, or a music site with a nice section on synths (preferably some forum), has my undying gratitude.
Found a synth forum earlier, but it wouldn't load T_T

Eughh. As long as I can learn from it, I'm happy.

EDIT: And it's always a good idea to buy a synth.

Well, I would be better off with a keyboard actually. Thanks for the site, I'll check it out.

You can edit any of those "techno" sounding presets and create sounds that sound more similar to what you are looking for.
For progressive rock? I wouldn't say it was a great choice, but it's a great first synth to learn from. It has a very easy interface that is very straight forward and perfect for beginners.
I was looking at this synth for a while, and passed it up for a more vintage style synth.
Good luck. Mess around and experiment.
