I am looking to buy a new amp for around 500 dollars...
Maybe more.
My Dad is getting it for me.
I live in Ontario Canada, so any suggestions?

Guitar.
Just bedroom practice.
I don't want a practice amp though.
I like the pretty hardcore stuff...
I just need a good quality amps and the distortion pedals come later.

you probably dont want pedals if you're gonna do metal, for metal its all amp distortion maybe an overdrive to tighten up the sound. I suggest a Used Peavey 5150 combo, its a bit out of your price range, otherwise you can get a Peavey JSX Mini Collosal

Not looking for a small amp.
Also, it's not really metal, it's more of a punk sort of stuff.
AFI for instance.

Well if you don't want a small amp and you want to spend that amount of cash you might as well save up a bit more for something nice.

But best bet is to hit up a local music shop and look around and ask for some help

Do you understand that the JSX mini collosal at full volume will shake your room. wattage does not equal vollume. Having a big amp is all but useless, especially if you are not gigging. Otherwise save more cash and get the real JSX, or the 5150/6505 or look at the Bugera 6262 or 333Xl.

BTW Dont ignore use and go and buy a Marshall MG 120 watt or a spider 3 120 watt or a crate 120 watt. They will look cool, but sound like shit past volume 4, and you will regret not listening to use in the first place

But really take my advice and hit up a local guitar shop, after that they will recommend a few things to you. If your still not sure come back and post your options at local stores and we can help you.
