New bass, strings were off because it was in storage for a while, figured I'll put some DR strings on there, yellow ones ^^
....I will when I have a spare 50 dollars.
Why take the strings off? That adds the work of loosening then readjusting the tension rod, or wrecks the neck if you don't loosen the tension rod.

Spectors are alot of money rofl, fuck that.
As far as I'm concerned the difference between an instrument in the 500-1k range is a pretty easy to close gap against more expensive instruments going up to 2-5 k. At that point it becomes more about what you have instead of how you can play it and how it sounds.
That depends on each instrument/model, some companies make mediocre guitars and put huge price tags on them and sell them on name alone, but some truly make top quality guitars that cost thousands. Guitar models with famous names on them, company or musician, tend to be ridiculously overpriced, and you can get an independent luthier to build you a better guitar for less than a lot of production guitars cost.
