Having an already overdriven signal does not cause your amp to run out of headroom faster. Its just your signal has already been pushed so your amp amplifies and already overdriven signal. But this is active pickups, do not mistake thickness/heavyness with more distortion. It may sound more distorted but its just because of the added bottom end. I already adressed the hotter wound pickups.

i can try, but i have no means of recording right now. that's also something i need to look into in the near future. i don't know shit about any of it, so i'm gonna need to ask around. i've been real close to buying a podxt many times, but fuck it, now i can just mic up this thing. i can tell you that it sounds great, and for now you're gonna have to take my word for it. i was playing this head through a crate flexwave cab for 2 weeks, and i compared them both today, and this cab is just awesome. $350 from craigslist, can't beat it.
