I agree he's not a great front man but to say he's a awful singer, especially when thinking back to the early 90s, is plain stupid.

It really isn't. Name me one other singer who is pants enough to release a massive LIVE album, and have his voice crack horribly in the middle of the song?

He is undeserving of a place in DT. All members of DT are at the top of their game at drums, guitars, keyboard, bass, but unfortunately the vocalist is terribly average and there are so many other singers who are just plain BETTER than he is who could replace him.

I hate DT - I mean I really can't stand them, but if they had Tim Ripper Owens singing I would probably like them (certainly i'd be able to stomach them more).

Also - I have seen DT live once and although Petrucci = WIN, LaBrie was as I expected, boring bland and flat for half the gig .

I believe in his day labrie was the best singer the DT could have possibly got hold of - i can't imagine a better vocalist. I agree he's not what he used to be, but his voice has become such a trademark of DT that they can't really drop him. Hell he's nearing 50 now, it's no suprise he doesn't have his old range, especially considering his ruptured-vocal-chords thing in the mid 90s. that can't have helped.
